You must have heard that rubbing iron or metal on wasp sting cures irritation. Dr Abdus Salam Khan, consultant emergency medicine from Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad says this is only a misconception. Iron can neither cure the wound nor take out the sting from the skin. There is no relation between stings and anything made from iron or other metals. The wasp sting actually goes inside the skin where these metals cannot help. In fact, it may only worsen the problem by spreading infection.
